After clearing competitive govt exams twice, (and still preparing for another rn), I can tell you there are both kinds of people.

The hardworking ones, who study/work their ass off to get their seats. And the ones who pay bribes for it. Both get selected almost equally.

Higher merit always favours the hardworking. Corruption exists at the middle & lower order of merit.

However, once you get the seat you’ll understand the latter never get the respect. They’re always ridiculed behind their backs, never given any serious responsibility and always suck at the job. (Openly called “backdoor entry”.) Only the hardworking persevere.

I’ve seen people fumbling to write a simple formal leave application. They copy that off from their colleagues lol.

But, the sad reality is that the ones who paid bribes for the job are usually the most corrupt people. They make the work environment insufferable. Their colleagues and subordinates have to pay for their carelessness.

If you had one reason to get it done, then it is worth it. You dont need to seek validation from here, which you'd most probably wont get. You'll always get "repainting is cheaper" answers, but the follow up question is "will you repaint if you get a small scratch?". So the real question is do you want to keep your car in prestine condition as long as you keep it or are minor scratches ok for you? Different people have different level of tolerence to scratches.
