My Cousin’s Tragic Accident and the Harsh Reality of Our System
Before covid , I had to admit my mother, who has kidney failure in Omandurar government hospital for almost 2-3 months & I experienced almost everything you listed & more during our stay there.
We took treatment in a private hospital (SRMC) & she was there for almost 60days. I exhausted all my savings & even took personal loan & borrowed from friends too but still my mother was deteriorating, so we ended up going to Omandurar. There, my mother was in ICU for 15days & then shifted to ward.
I would see so many patients dying left , right & center. The ICU is like a general ward in any private hospital, except the addl medical equipment.
Had to shill out daily for cleaning lady , bedsheet changing lady , the the lady who would do towel bath , the wheelchair guy etc etc
Once my mother vomited & I literally got scolded by the cleaning lady! Like what did they expect, it's a hospital after all & it was in ICU btw.
I had to daily fetch test tubes from ground floor & after blood is collected for tests , I have to go down again to the lab to submit. As the hospital is HUGE , it felt like the distance between ICU to Lab was 500 metres!
To add to that , patient attenders have no facility to stay , you have to sleep on the floor near the patient's bed or somewhere on the corridor. I would go back home in the evening & comeback early morning but this is not possible for many who come from outside chennai for treatment.
Everyday I felt my dignity eroded with they way we were being treated by the staff & circumstances there. The medical treatment was not free as we didn't have Ration card , but it was quite lass than private hospital. Ultimately, the hospital couldnt diagnose the mysterious illnesses that made my mother immobile even though we did repeated biopsies both in private hospital & govt hospital.
I really empathize people who cannot afford treatment at private hospital & have to rely on these government hospitals, I am sure something is better than nothing, but there is a lot of scope for improvement. -

Why government is so silent about illegal immigration from Bangladesh?
Even I want answers, we are already obliged to pay for weaker sections of our society, we don't want other country/people outside India to get their rations/whatever benefits at the expense of taxpayers money. -
Insurrectionists Melt Down After Vance Says Trump Shouldn’t Pardon Violent J6ers
I doubt Trump will pardon at the beginning of his term. Too much heat. But if he starts to believe they can serve him again, like a personal army, he'll pardon them. -

No roads are not worse since 2021, before metro construction I used to drive in omr long stretch it used to be so good. After metro the big stretch is not that good. I used to drive in GST road until nanganallur a year or two back it used to be like Butter i couldn't feel a single pot hole, i used to pinch myself. Everything deteriorated over time and the fix is the worse. -

South Korean Crypto Mogul Do Kwon Pleads Not Guilty in…
>**At the same time, changes in the industry, like the Binance new crypto listings such as Wall Street Pepe ($WEPE), Solaxy ($SOLX), and Flockerz ($FLOCK)** which keep the market excited. These listings not only introduce fresh opportunities in the crypto sphere but also signal the platform's confidence in many emerging projects. >**This shows how strong the cryptocurrency market is, even though it faces problems with the law and regulations, like in Kwon's case.**
The article's title focuses on Do Kwon pleading not guilty, but the content subtly includes the memecoins they wanted to shill. -
Do you think indian healthcare system is a scam?
This seems excessive. One of our family members had a bike accident recently and had to be taken to ER. Lot of blood loss and injuries to the head (even with helmet). Had to stay in the hospital for 1 night and get all the recommended MRI scans etc. Cost was around ₹70,000 in a private room without insurance. This is in Mumbai. -

Trickle-down economics
Yeah. Insurance companies really do operate on the buy-it-then-find-out-what-you-get model. -

Is it really better to daytrade instead of just investing?
Here’s the thing:
Investing and trading are two very different games:
* **Investing** (e.g., S&P 500) is about growing your wealth slowly and passively over time, riding out ups and downs.
* **Trading** is more active and can offer higher returns, but it also requires a lot more work, discipline, and risk management.
A 1-2% monthly return might seem small, but if you compound it consistently, it adds up fast over time. However, trading isn’t for everyone, it’s mentally taxing, and many traders (99%) don’t beat the market long-term.
The real point of trading is if you enjoy the process and want more control over your capital. But if you’d rather set it and forget it, investing in an index fund might be better for your goals.
