Launching a hardware company will need a lot more capital. If its a simple device you could bootstrap a handful of units for an MVP demo to investors, but if its more complicated you will need thousands or tens of thousands of dollars to build prototypes.

If its a wireless device you will need to pass regulatory testing before you can sell to customers. The type and extent of testing all depends on the types of radios on the product and could range from a couple thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I don't want to discourage you because I'm a hardware guy and I want to see more hardware companies but you probably need to find a partner that knows hardware startups.
