You didn't give any information regarding the diagnosis by doctor A and B and the investigations ( costly). A pain in abdomen can have 101 different causes. And two doctors CAN give different diagnosis. The investigations help in removing doubt of various life threatening causes.
For examplez just today, a patient came to me with a visual disturbance with a MRI brain showing some lesion which may or may not be the cause of his visual deterioration.
I had the fortune of being the last consultation, as most of the other doctors who he had visited had already seen him and had done various investigations, made my job easy.
However, he did all this because , the first doctor suggested that the brain lesion may need surgery and he needs to do some investigation. He got scared and went to multiple doctors and finally landed with me.
Looking through all his investigations, it was easy for me to make the decision of not operating however it's not easy for the first doctor to know this.

So retrospective bias , is avery common problem and does affect decision making without us knowing about.

Although, I do know many doctors who advised more than needed investigations.
But in your case, you didn't share any information and gave an opinion which rather paints a pictur e that top doctors from famous hospitals cannot be trusted.

You don't have to agree to his diagnosis. You can always have a second opinion.

I will have qualms, only if he didn't explain me why the tests have been ordered ( which I agree many do).

And if the doctor owns a hospital, then don't consider his profession as his income , he is a business man ( don't take it in a negative way) and he has all the problems which any businessman faces.
