Renting a Muslim guy by a hindu landlord has nothing to do with religion as such, but in case any issues happen, some people will turn it into a communal issue. People don't prefer to unnecessarily attract issues. Same goes with lawyers and police guys, people don't give rent to police and lawyers because of possible issues in future, nothing to do with religion or hatred.

My friend and I got slapped by the owner's son.

The top floor was occupied by a set of students studying at HAL near Munnikolala. These guys invited too many friends one night, and it went out of hand.

The owner knows its only two of us here, and we usually are in bed by 9ish because of work the next day. We heard some noise and got up. When we checked through the window, we saw some boys running and shouting.

I shouldn't have, but at that point, I thought it's some emergency and opened the door. I could hear the owner and his son there. Before I could ask anything, the son came out of nowhere and slapped me so hard. My specs flew and broke. He walked into the house and started shouting so loudly. My friend was in half sleep, and he also got slapped.

By now, the owner came and asked who those boys who ran away were. We told him we were sleeping and that we had been at this place for over 10 months and never had caused any trouble.

The owner is around 60s, and he usually takes the rent from us. He said his son misunderstood, and that's why he slapped. The owner knows we never delayed paying rent and keep the house clean, and we are most times at work.

We vacated the place the following month. The owner said it won't happen again as it was a misunderstanding, but we were not so sure because the son who slapped us never even apologized or showed any concern.

This was about 9 years back, though, but I don't think anyone forgets being slapped that hard.

I experienced this but because of an unhealthy relationship with extreme emotional enmeshment. Now I just made it a habit to stay in touch with friends and meet them when I can.

you can’t force to build those bonds w people. not everyone you know is meant to be your friend in need. and giving people tag of being a colleague is ok.
