In order to avoid landing another soul-crushing job, I would recommend that he reach out to his current batchmates and also tap his alumni database.

If he can confidentially reach out to people and communicate *exactly* what's he looking for next, how can he transition from A to B, what are the required skills to make that transition happen, and more importantly *understand the culture of a company* he plans on applying to...that would help him a lot. It's been a *small world* for a while and reaching out to his network would be his best bet, in my opinion.

I think the idea is good but a few problems

1. if I understand you right, you will verify if emails are legit to prevent them going into Spam - to the recipient and vice versa? So any member of your service will be a legit email - sort of like a Yellow Pages for email (with a listers fee). So in the future, some bot cant just create an email to spam you?
2. There will be a willingness to pay issue (and hence you need serious volume). Since you are essentially a feature within a large email solution like Superhuman, you really can only monetize tiny amounts per user/month or ever tinier amount per email - think cents. But again, not bad place to start --> sell to a bigger player later
3. This also is an area Outlook especially is working on. Likely any email provider that is trying to compete with Gmail. The best bet would be to talk to them and either pitch the idea or just go work there and become the email PM. (No, you are not their competition but you may be better than their current engineer). Even if you launch alone, they are probably excellent investors for you anyway.
4. Your path to GTM "maybe" harder than current AI based solutions in development (ostensibly Microsoft/Google + a 1000 genAI startups trying to read emails). I say MAYBE/MAYBE NOT. So worthwhile to get a perspective on what those rules are being built - and if yours is more onerous or more valuable. I would look at recent research papers from reputable univs to see what is now possible.
5. Expect this area to get competitive pretty soon. Your strategy is interesting in that it is likely low(er) tech + likely enforces cybersecurity more so than just AI. But you likely need to be pretty fast.
6. Below you mention 8 hours to guarantee inbox - that suggests you have some credibility + high quality Tech but you will face sender backlash since 8 hours is a LONG time for an email in this day and age. + Getting into the Inbox does not guarantee a response -- so Sales type people who will be early adopters will at best see marginal value
