It always fell short, but it was competitive enough.

The real switch up wasn't until BMW took ownership in the 90s and subsequently released the 2nd generation with BMW parts and interiors. That changed the whole dynamics and perspective of range rover, throttling it into a luxury brand.(Same story for mini, it wasn't luxury until BMW took ownership)

Quite the opposite. Nihilism implies (in my understanding at least) "nothing really matters. What was, what is, what will be, where, when, how, nothing really matters. Not in a negative way, but not in a positive way either. But the words in your post seem to indicate quite the opposite - everything has a point, value and matters.
