This is one of those highly nuanced decisions. Do you *need* the keyword in the URL? Not necessarily. Does it help? Yes, both for search engines and people to know what the page is about.

It also helps with your on-page optimization by having the keyword in the title, URL, h tags, and body copy.

But, a single page can rank for multiple keywords and the overall topic because we’ve moved from specific keywords and to search intent / closer to topics.

At the end of the day, your URL just needs to be succinct and easily understood. Having your main keyword in it *will* help though.

I wouldn’t even bother having this conversation with a client to be completely honest and I would have just added it in the first place. I’ve yet to see any conclusive study or data that says it’s *wrong* to do it.

Honestly, this just sounds like a weird hill to die on and causing unnecessary friction with your client.

Avinash is good but he is trying to fake Vivian vs Avinash so they both go to top 2, funny thing is vivian is either dumb to not play along since his nomination by Avi or he does not want to take avinash up with him to top 2 and very cleverly ignoring it.
