How to tell if a trader is legit or not
> There is not one other industry where people feel entitled to that kind of personal information.
Depends. For any job where you have uncertainty in outcome, people kind of do, albeit indirectly sometimes.
For example, medicine has uncertainty in outcome. You can’t tell a doctor “no I will not pay you because I am still sick”.
When you enter a contract with them you are only entitled to them trying their best to cure you, but it’s still possible that you’re unlucky and they aren’t able to cure you despite being good and doing their best.
Just like when you purchase a trading course, you usually aren’t allowed to ask for your money back because their tips aren’t working (I guess, never purchased a course myself). There is uncertainty outside of their control.
So why don’t people ask for a history of cured patients when they go to doctors? Because there is usually a medical association that does that for them, if they were incompetent they would get their license revoked, so the fact that they’re not allows customers to feel some safety in trusting them.
You don’t have this problem with plumbers, because you’re paying them to fix a problem and the outcome is observable. If they don’t deliver their service, you’re not paying them (except for the flat fee from coming to your place, but that’s fair). -
