It will always vary from child to child and parent to parent. Some should be forgiven because they were trying their best but raising kids is one of the most difficult job ( you will know if that is the case) - like in my case my mother she used to beat me like hell as a child i had fairly low self esteem till beating continued (15 years) but when she stopped my confidence shot up a lot...i don't blame her she thought that was the norm she herself was raised by her granny who used to beat her till her back started aching...on the other hand there are parents who don't deserve redemption until the very end like my father - he used to beat my mother till she bled, mentally emotionally manipulated me a lot against her , so much violence was there at my house that my sister had to be sent away for studies...Moreover for some twisted reason he always discouraged me for eating good healthy food ( egg, chicken , panner, fruits) all of which he himself enjoyed regularly. Till date my father claims i could have stopped his divorce but does not understand what he did was wrong.
