Definitely not hero. They make sturdy bikes with good built but they just don't know how to make good engines. Got a Xpulse 200, and that engine is just not refined, has rock tight gear shifting and not that reliable. Their service is very unreliable.

Bajaj is making brilliant engines now, i was literally blown away by the N250 when i recently test rode it. But the overall quality of bajaj bikes could've been better.

Tvs makes brilliant products. And as far as i know, they develop their engines without much external help unlike others who collab with AVL austria and others for engine development. But their service is least reliable

Royal Enfield is the only brand that has completely evolved themselve in last few years. They've raised their quality standards, made few brilliant engines, and they now have superb lineup.

As per my experience, i'd say

In terms of engines and overall reliability: RE> Bajaj> Tvs> Hero

(Note that i am not including the older bikes, otherwise RE would have been on last. Overall bike quality, service network ,service quality, parts availability, and quality control, brand development in recent years; i think RE takes the lead now for their new lineup)
