i am also a tenant. you broke the agreement, it is your fault because of which it is an additional hassle for him to look for new tenant before the expected timeline. it is better to talk to him and reach some kind of agreement and pay him some extra money and get your remaining deposit back. this is india, dont think of police and legal matters for such scenarios. get out and move on.

Renting a place actually depends on your workplace.

For commute: Either bring a Two Wheeler if you have one. If not, you'll have to rely on public transport like City Bus. It has good frequency. Or autos. For Autorickshaw, remember: If you rent a special auto, they'll loot you like anything. So prefer shuttle/sharing autos to save money, if that's okay for you. In shared autos, 1km=~10₹.

For Groceries, Blinkit, Instamart work smoothly, if you're habituated to it. Otherwise, there are malls and supermarkets for that. For Non Vegetarian stuff, you can easily get eggs, Chicken. Beef, Pork might be big no no. Fish and something you'll have to explore yourself.

For renting a place, I suggest you post your requirements in this sub only, and hopefully you'll get some leads. Otherwise, once you start working here, you can ask your coworkers for any leads.

Night life is okayish only. Nothing like Ahmedabad/Mumbai. Vadodara is a peaceful city, so there are limited activities to pursue, which you'll have to yourself explore.
