The momentum of the vehicle will have the direction of the travel in both cases. So the container falling over is not carrying the momentum into the vehicle below. Their vector directions will be parallel. Momentum applies if the two collided head-on, which AFAIK they didn't.

So it will only be the raw mass involved here. It all comes down to what was inside the container, and how LOADED it was. There's a good chance it was overloaded AF, meaning hardly any car could've survived the incident.
