I don't know the status of your relationship but if possible it may do him some good if he quits working for sometime and you can start supporting him financially if you are working and if you can afford to support both you and your boyfriend till he finds something worthwhile. It sounds like he really needs to focus on self care for some time without feeling depressed and may be you can give him that strength and confidence and real support that he needs at this time that needs to come from love for his long term well being. This world is a harsh place and can eat away at self esteem and confidence fast. I hope he finds what he deserves.
