Moved to Mumbai from Bangalore in 2024, after living in Mumbai for 6 years, 2 years in Bangalore and back here again. Apart from the weather, everything is better here - respectable sweet Marathis, a lot better infrastructure and public transport and safety. All other common Indian problems exist - bad air and congestion due to over population and don’t forget, it’s not cheap here.

The majority of the public generally don't follow rules or any guidance and completely lack any civic sense. Everyone wants to rush in to get their spot and move in such uncoordinated fashion. It's very easy to start a stampede even without a huge crowd.

I remember a few years back , there was some 2k cash offered in ration shops for Pongal or something, the minute the gate opened, people rushed in causing a stampede that killed few . The crowd might be 100 or 150 people max . Imagine hundreds of thousands at the same place. Authorities can do only so much.
