The main reason why heavy vehicles choose to drive on the right lane is the presence of two wheelers and autorickshaws on the left lane. Most two wheelers overtake these trucks through their left and through the shoulder. Since the truck drives close to the divider on the right lane, they just have to mind the right side.

I don’t know how to resolve this. In Trivandrum bypass ( four lane road), the left lane is infested with two wheelers that move at around 50kmph. Some even ride through the right lane blocking the cars that come one after the other( with minimal scope for overtaking). It’s sad considering the cars pay around 150rs as toll to travel in a 45 km road with considerable traffic and numerous signalled and unmanaged junctions.
