There is a simple solution to it. Be confident. I live abroad and all my Indian and Non-indian friends get on the south indian stereotype bandwagon when the make fun of me. Like me and my friends might be having a friendly banter session and suddenly one of them will be like "But bro u are indian/Madrasi". I always respond this way, if its an Vadakan, I say "Yea bro I am from Chennai, best city in India" and if its a pakistani or bangladeshi, I tell them "arent we all Indian Saar?".

What I am trying to say is these guys tend to look down on us due to stupid bollywood stereotypes. You gotta be confident, dare I say slight tint sarcasm, cockiness and arrogance has always helped me shut ppl like that. Since you are in an office/professional setting, be professional and friendly. If you get sarcastic remarks or someone take a jibe at you for being South Indian, just laugh and shoot back with a smart yet snarky response. I am not trying to promote arrogance here, but it helps to think you are better than these guys in scenarios like this.
