OP did you look at tax rates in Germany and other European countries? In Germany, besides taxes, there are also mandatory social contributions for healthcare, pension etc which you must pay. If you die before the retirement age and have no dependents, you won’t get any pension at all.

Besides they have 19% Vat of almost every item.
