In UP or generally in the north they don't stop personal vehicles, no matter what number plate you have. It's rare to get stopped especially for women. Though make sure you have HSRP number plate. I've noticed a log of MH number plates not using HSRP. They might issue a challan for that.

I don't switch per se but I use a lot of English words to describe things. That's because idiomatic language is quite limited in Malayalam. You either use slang or print language .
