  1. Wholesome experience at Basavanagudi - Vidyarthi Bhavan

This is the OG Bengaluru Kannadiga spirit that you can find very commonly in old Bengaluru areas of Jayanagar, Basavanagudi, Basaveshwara Nagar, Malleshwaram etc. People are gentle, softspoken and generous. I live in Basavanagudi myself with my family and we couldn't be happier living here.
  2. Just read a news about Airport coming up in Palghar

    5 months
Well we know there's eventually going to be an airport somewhere in that region North of Mumbai, but that hasn't even reached the proposal stage yet. It's at least 20 years away from opening.

  7. Why no muscle cars in India, I am sure people love them

    5 months
I guess it's the lack of car culture. I mean these cars were prominent in the mid to late 20th century. At the time we never really had a demand for them.

  14. Are most mainlanders casteist/like looking down upon tribals and lower castes?

    5 months
Tribe does not fall under Varna System( Caste). There are four hierarchy in ancient Hindu scripture or Rig vedas :

    1. Brahmin— Priests
    2. Kshastriyas— Warriors
    3. Vaishayas — Merchants
    4. Sudras— Service to above 3 .

In Vedic age, they were categorised according to Gunas ( Qualities) , later became rigit  and  to practice restriction.

However, when you read the origin of Varna or Jati Model of Indian society. The Racial theory highlights the beginning of caste system is due to preserve purity and pollution of Aryans mixing with tribes.

This is what I have read. So, we as NE tribes in mainland have been consider 'Adivasi', which is Primitive people. However, word primitive in anthropological view is in positive and cultural significance. But that is another topic to discuss.

  18. Don't confine the identity of my city to Dolly, we have gems like...

    5 months
First you should understand that this kid has done nothing special. He just assembled certain electronic instruments on board which qualified the definition of satellite and boom! He got a world record. I saw his interview and the machine is completely useless. NASA organises such camps and it's nice that he is getting exposure. But stop glamorizing such things. Coming to dolly he has done something very important! A person selling tea on roadside can meet founder of IBM. It says a alot. You should consider his background, he comes from bottom most strata of society

My observations are that indian society is biased:

    1. Class Bias: Respect and admiration often skew towards those with privilege and a polished demeanor, regardless of the difficulty or significance of their achievements. Dolly's rise from adversity should, by all accounts, command more admiration, but societal bias favors the well-to-do.

    2. Mannerism over Merit: Subconscious prejudice equates "refined behavior" with worthiness. Despite Dolly's achievements, his lack of polished mannerisms leads to him being labeled "chapri," a dismissive term that undermines his success. This reflects society's superficial value system, where appearances often outweigh substance.

    3. Romanticization of Privilege: Achievements by privileged individuals are often glorified, even when aided by resources unavailable to others. This reinforces systemic inequality, as privilege is mistaken for personal merit.

    4. Resistance to Social Mobility: Dolly's success challenges societal hierarchies, making some uncomfortable. The reluctance to celebrate his rise shows a latent resistance to breaking entrenched class barriers.

    5. Perception of Hard Work: Society tends to romanticize struggles within its comfort zone—those relatable to middle and upper classes—while overlooking or trivializing the grit required for those like Dolly to succeed against systemic odds.
