    First- stop loss hunting is only done to much bigger players with bigger sizes /contracts. Your retail sizes don’t mean anything to them.
    News wise- yes some insider trading does happen, but most are not. Interpreting news and its impact on the market as to what’s priced in takes skill and time.
    Your example of tariffs- some were priced in and but specifics weren’t known so impacted the market.
    Other news can be prepped for- for example CPI/PPI/Unemployment numbers.

    TLDR: there is some manipulation but not enough y affect a retail trader
