Near Sarai and Kashmiri Gate, the cleaning and rebuilding of the Yamuna River has been ongoing for few years now. There's a high probability that this government will make the river at least appear clean, though the water quality remains uncertain. However, it's not just the government's responsibility—people need to develop civic sense as well. While we can't control sewage water directly, we can certainly avoid throwing garbage into the river.

During my daily commute to Noida for work, I often see bikers and car drivers stopping to dump their temple or ritual waste into the Yamuna, often in plastic bags. Despite the government fencing off the entire riverbank, some individuals have broken the barriers, creating small openings to continue disposing of their waste.

Yamuna and sabarmati are two different rivers, especially in terms of flora and fauna. Yamuna has wetlands, lots of bandhs, biodiversity parks etc across its bank. There are also agricultural lands, localities including old villages spread on both sides of Yamuna.


But it's BJP, they will definitely not care for all of that above and bulldoze their way through all that if they want to make some riverfront type of development.
