Make batter from pre soaked rice, add a few spoons of coconut. And grind smooth like really really smooth, you should be barely able to feel any small grains.

And make the batter really thin, by your description it looks like the batter is thick and becomes clump.

1. Don't use a cast iron pan as you are a beginner, just use a non stick pan with elevated edges.
2. Keep the flame in medium, the pan should be slightly smoking, and hot, if you drop a bit of batter the pan should sizzle immediately.
3. Apply oil either using a brush or even better by half an onion, gives a nice aroma and avoids sticking on the pan. The pan will now smoke a lot.
4. Lift the pan by the handle away from the flame, and quickly pour one full spoon of batter and just tilt the pan so the batter spreads evenly and then keep the pan back on the stove, close the lid wait for about 50-60 sec and then remove the lid, wait for the batter to cook and fold when you see slightly brown patches in few places.

Note- if the pan is big you might have to put 2 spoonfuls of batter.
