SMB in MacOS is tricky (alias for "poorly implemented").

As far as I know you need to "allow full disk access for all users", from both the menu in your screenshot AND "Settings">Privacy and Security">"Full Disk Access">"smbd".

Now, that is not ideal because the external users will have access to your entire disk for your primary user.

For that reason I created another user only for SMB. This way the external users have access to the folders I select and the "smb user" folders.

Once you do that you can share the link and external users need to login using the credentials of the "smb user".

Another one. The irony of this post is that more creeps are in the dms now and for the people saying just block your dms that’s not how it’s supposed to be the problem are the creepy people and the instructions on to block dms.
