So I mounted my pad 5 too but later removed it since more chance of getting stolen. I mounted it using dual magnet mount now I use those mounts to mount my 2 phones (one with aux for music and other is my primary one). The only problem I had was insufficient brightness of screen due to which I was unable to see what's on the tab.

I am going to give some practical advice (it’s not ideal, but it’s practical). Go sit downstairs at the time your husband comes home.
