Has Uttarakhand officially become centre’s scapegoat?
Dear OP, the article is about inter-faith marriages and yet, misses out a very controversial social phenomenon that has been a catalyst for the rejection of inter faith marriages in society, namely, Love Jihad. Now, one can either ignore this concept or play it down, but one cannot ignore the effect of this concept amongst the society. Similarly, there is an increased awareness in the society about use of marriage as a tool for conversion. There is already a huge debate on limits of religious freedom as guaranteed by the constitution and whether 'conversions' need to be overseen, in view of various cases of coercive conversions, that have been documented by the SC it self.
Statistically, as per the article, inter faith marriages are less than 5% in the Indian society. It is clear that a large section of the society (95%), even before the introduction of UCC, did not believe in such marriages. The UCC bill legalizes overview of certain worries that society holds against coercive tactics for promotion of some religions. Religious Conversions have been a tool for subversion of cultures historically and were used extensively to wipe out indigenous civilizations. So, the fear against conversion by a certain section of society cannot be wished away and has to be addressed.
All laws are made to ensure that criminal or illegal practices that affect individual citizens are minimised. The article's arguments against live in relationships are based on the premise that all live in relationships result in amicable and happy couples. Is the same true of marriage that has an institutionalised framework (social and legal) protecting the interests of those who get married ? If the answer is no, then how are we expecting a non institutionalised 'norm' to offer a level playing field for both members, and more, why are we so callously rejecting the idea of legally protecting those who enter such a relationship. In the guise of protecting individual freedom, by argueing against legal oversight mechanisms, we are permitting some living in couples to be grossly victimised.
There is also an increased focus by international woke forces to create social mechanisms for undermining the value of families in society. It has been seen in US and Europe, where a rise in public sentiment against the 'wokeists' has led to the rise of social and political consciousness against such concepts. Living in relationship is a non institutionalised social concept that undermines familial values by not requiring social or legal sanction. UCC makes a living in relationship legalised and institutional thereby effectively countering this anti 'family' 'woke' concept. -
Is Violence in Movies Affecting Our Society?
I don't think there's any influence whatsoever. Remember when people used to say that violent video games would make kids more violent? Gamergate was debunked systematically with peer reviewed research. Think about the reverse, do romcoms make people more romantic and comedic? No it's just what people prefer. i personally love gore, violence and blood in the movies i watch, that doesn't influence me in any sort of way. Let's not conflate personal preferences with what "society" has to say. If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's that simple. -
‘Democracy cannot function without an Opposition’ - YSRCP. NDA silencing such people's voice.
My respect to jagan is decreasing day by day. His need of questioning the government in assembly is much required as he was the only opposition exists. But rejecting assembly in name of opposition status is a bad move. He should protest in some other way.
Even rahul gandhi did well in parliament for 10 years without opposition status -
