Stark reality of Mumbai
I can understand your perspective and feelings. I too have been to multiple coutries in the past 40 years. I feel great to see and experience things not possible in India. There are times when I wonder if all this will ever be a reality for my country too. There have been countless occasions where I felt if I belong to these places and if I should really consider making it a permanent home.
The reason I still feel attached to my own country is because of its heritage and culture. I feel more comfortable with my own people, no matter who or how they are. Yes, a majority of them are lacking in fields of discipline, hygiene, intelligence, finance, modesty and what not. We as Indians may have every bad trait a human could possibly have. But there is something is us that always makes us unique in our own special way.
Yes, we need to rise. We need to group and unite. We need to make ourselves and our country a better place. And I do believe this will definitely happen. But ultimately it is us Indians that need to first come together as 'Indians' who truly love our country and will try our best to do something towards it's betterment and prosperity. We can all try and do our bit, using whatever means we have for that purpose, starting out with the little things that matter.
The most important thing that makes other countries reach a stage they are currently at is because they are not as diverse of a country as we are, which can make things a little better when it comes to taking decisions about everything related to the country's development.
We always look on the other side of the fence and tend to overlook or ignore the actual ripe ground under our own feet, which is capable of producing much better greens. -
