I totally support Gukesh being awarded, speaking of the other recipients, they have won medals in tournaments in which other indians have also won medals. Which criteria is being used to prioritize them over the other winners? Either give it to all who won, or don't give it to anyone. Also, historically only one or two people are given this award every year, which makes it a big and an important award in the career of an Indian sportsperson. This is the biggest sports award in our country. Don't give it to 4-5 people every year in the name of politics, the award loses it's high prestige and becomes just like any other random award. There are lower awards present in sports, give most of the people that, reserve this award for exceptional purposes only.
