Please follow the below post guidelines for posts under culture flair "संस्कृती/ Culture"

    * Posts about Pune's culture can be shared in any format, but they must include a brief explanation highlighting what makes the content uniquely significant to Pune's culture.
    * Avoid focusing on new infrastructure developments or places or things that are common across the country.
    * e.g., Metro stations, High rises, pictures taken with celebrities.
    * Posting pictures about historical or modern cultural places like hiking trails or biking pathways nearby the city is encouraged, but when doing so, make sure to include details like:
    * Name of the place in the Title
    * How to Reach there
    * What mode of transport did you use
    * Is it accessible by public transport

Australia was a top Indian immigrants destination back in the late 2000's when it had a liberal leaning govt albeit not totally left like in Canada today. Indians used to get beat up on a daily basis. Gradually, the immigrant pile up from India to Australia subsided and this did a lot of good to both the countries

On a very related note, I have observed that Syro-Malabar Catholic hierarchs have started wearing clerical clothing and vestments (liturgical garments) that look more "Eastern" or "Orthodox" than before.

This was quite evident at George Koovakad's Cardinal appointment ceremony, where he wore black clothing and a black and red headgear, which was very different from what George Alencherry wore.

  15. What are some cheap and safe areas for women

    4 months
Hello, I recently moved to South Goa, and I'm a woman. Like others have said, any place away from the tourists and around the locals will be safe. The local folks are absolutely lovely! I don't speak fluent Konkani, and yet, everybody so far, has been really sweet and accommodating, and willing to help. It's nice that you're willing to learn (as am I, but I'm a slow learner, so I told my neighbors and other people to be very very patient, and they just lol-ed).

Plenty of good advice in this thread.

Specifically, I was able to get an apartment very easily here, in a nice safe area, and I also know of a very reliable broker. DM for more details. My biggest challenge is to find a reliable second-hand bike for purchase (unsuccessful so far, but I've been looking around and I'm hopeful that in the next few days I'll be able to zero in on a deal). Having your own transportation is key here. If there's anything else, you could send me a private DM.

    And welcome!

Indians (not all) are too egoistic to accept criticism, and that’s why the country is in its current state. It will never improve if people don’t learn to acknowledge their flaws.

Bashing NRIs is not a solution. If these trollers had the chance to move abroad, they won’t think twice.
  19. Should Malayali should be considered as an ethnicity?

    4 months
I found it interesting that 23andMe lists two ethnic groups under '**Southern South Asian**' – ***Malayali Subgroup*** and ***Southern Indian & Sri Lankan***.

This means Malayalis are considered a separate identity from the rest of South India and Sri Lanka.
