These people really didn't understand the message of the movie did they? It was not about cooking for two people, it was about being trapped in your own house. Her husband and in-laws barred her from following her passion, work, be independent. She was just expected to be a slave who should cater to every need of her family. Her husband didn't take a stand for her, didn't understand her and kept belittling her choices. Plus he didn't respect her consent, and forced himself on her. He openly told her that she wasn't desirable and didn't even consider her feelings. It's jarring that these people reduced all the disrespect and struggle she faced in her marriage to 'cooking to two people'. I dare these people to just do household chores for one day.
