I drive the Urus extensively quite a lot here in Bangalore, one of my friends have it, I sometimes borrow it for multiple road trips. Here are a couple of points I have experienced:

• Don’t get fooled by the SUV stance. The ground clearance is actually quite low and we’ve managed to hit the underside a few times when the car is full.

• The rear is also not that spacious compared to other SUVs. Coming from a sedan, that’s fine but if you expecting general SUV like space, you won’t find that here. The storage space is also limited

• The rear visibility is quite low. This is fine once you get used to the car and its dimensions but it’s something to keep in mind before trying the car for the first time. The rear quarter pillars are massive which is fine but the bad part is that they extend a bit to the side of the rear windshield and they can hide as much as 3 feet diagonally from the car. One has to be aware of this when reversing. And only half of this is shown in the camera. Also the rear headline is low slung so tall people may not have the best time sitting in the rear.

• This may be a non issue as most people may not notice but I found it weird. The pedals are slightly offset to the left so it might feel slightly weird sitting initially. It feels natural after a while but it’s still something to note.

• This has the same ~650bhp V8 engine as the RSQ8 so the performance is absolutely bonkers. 0-100 feels like a blink of an eye, highway runs are incredible on the car, it just pulls and pulls. It will thoroughly spoil you, you won’t feel like driving any other car after this. But there is nowhere in India you can ever extract the full performance. Legally ofc. But yes, the car will simply spoil you, you cannot enjoy any other car after this.

I love my Accord to death but driving that after a highway run on the Urus, it makes me bit sad. And the Accord is pretty fast.

• Prepare for a very very expensive cost of ownership. Mileage in the city varies between 3-4kmpl in Strada. And in Corsa, I have seen it drop to 2kmpl. But then again, my friend and I have a heavy right foot. You can optimise and gain more mileage.

• Same story with maintenance. The first service was around 2.2L if I remember correctly. And this was just basic maintenance, fluid changes, no replacements. He did get his tyres replaced, that was around 3.7L including alignment. If you’re wondering, yes a lot of this is Lamborghini tax.

• Sourcing parts for it is a very big hassle, even by the ASC as they have to be imported. My friend once had to give his car away for a month and a half at Lamborghini ASC for some O rings for the oil pump.

• Despite being an SUV, I wouldn’t really call it practical. We only take it out when we go to someplace we don’t have to leave the car for a while and almost never to a place we haven’t been before. The car understandably attracts a lot of attention and you have to be wary of where you park.

Overall, it’s an excellent car if you have the means to maintain it and are prepared for a few quirks. If I had the money for it, would I go for it?
Personally not. I would have gone for the RSQ8 instead, exact same power train but significantly cheaper to maintain as it’s an Audi.

There are a lot of things that are simply overpriced purely because of the badge and the RSQ8 will offer you about 70% of the same driving experience but for a lot cheaper.
