And yet her in laws are not satisfied. So even if she earns significantly less than her husband, it should have been ok to let her work.

Thing is, even in places where women earn well enough, where they're the primary breadwinner even, I've seen thier in laws critisizong the burnt jeera in the daal they prepared after getting home from 9-5.
