Depends on what kind of car you own. If it is smple car, which you don't mind abusing a bit by leaving it open on the roads, then ok. If you have a car that you love so much and want everything to be perfect, it's value is comparable to the value of the house (>20%), but a proper house with covered parking. Salty weather won't do much harm but road parking can.
