Clarifying a couple of things here,
Firstly being appointed as a dean is not a promotion, they'll remain in the same pay level they are in the matrix right now, just that will have some sort of organizational responsibility and power upon them. Secondly, there are multiple deans in an institute looking over multiple things (Dean Student affairs, academics, R&D, IRO for eg.) They aren't chosen by any sort of academic merit but their organizational and other capabilities and their proximity with the VC/Director/Registrar.

This is nothing along the lines of Dr. Shaija being promoted from Assistant to Associate professor or from Associate to (full) Processor. That is completely based on academic rigour and has nothing to do with her outrageous statements and is a researcher'a right if he/she/they satisfies all the norms.Rather, Shaija being appointed as the Dean Planning & Development, has to do with her ideologies aligning with that of Prasad Krishna (Director NIT-C) and co.

And appointing someone in such key positions of an institute who has the history of being a sangh-affiliate and somebody who defended her statements supporting Godse when enquired by the media is ridiculous and complete saffronisation of the institute (as if that is not the case).

I think work hour should be maintained, if anyone want to have extra work from their employee, they should hire more and do it in shift. Work should be less and more people should do work.
Also, if somebody is not working then replace them.
