Hey you can purchase tofu litter which is flushable in SMALL quantities (it will be mentioned in the packaging). Please don’t dump it down your toilet in large quantities it will block the plumbing for your entire building.

This is more than just avoiding tech debt; but an understanding that there are times and places for tech debt, and places where it must be avoided. I see many people building great complicated highly scalable solutions for projects where this is not only slowing them down, but when reality comes along they will have built the wrong sorts of scalability and flexibility into their product. Well more than once I have witnessed great complex configuration management systems where the configuration never changed.

For example. For a simple MVP, larding on the tech debt is not a terrible plan, as this can greatly shorten time to market. But, for some products, this is begging for disaster.

Knowing when to refactor is important, etc.

The skills required for the above often are architecture and design skills, far more than any programming skill.

Communications are brutally indispensable. It doesn't matter how fantastically talented the person is if they proceed to build the wrong product. This is a broad area, such as language skills, written skills, the ability to break things down and explain them, the ability to focus on what is significant.

Personality fit is critical. If they have some sort of personality which causes people to walk on eggshells around them, then proper communications will basically grind to a halt. People with no common ground often just don't work well together.
