• Have You Noticed the YouTube Algorithm “Forgets” Your Long-Term Preferences?

I’ve been noticing lately that the YouTube algorithm doesn’t seem to prioritize long-term viewing habits like it used to. A year or two ago, my recommendations felt spot-on, consistently aligning with the kind of content I’ve enjoyed over time. But now, if I take a break for even a day or two, my homepage is filled with generic or unrelated videos. It seems like the algorithm shifts heavily based on my most recent activity. For example, if I watch a couple of random videos out of curiosity, my entire feed gets flooded with similar content, while older preferences I used to rely on disappear. Has anyone else noticed this? Do you think YouTube is focusing more on short-term engagement over building a personalized, long-term experience? Would love to hear your thoughts!
