Beware of Instagram Ad – Online Shopping Scam!
Hello, everyone. I'm sharing this to warn you all about an online shopping scam that happened to me recently, so you don't fall into the same trap. On 11th January 2025, I came across an ad on Instagram from a page promoting beautiful sweaters at affordable prices. The ad looked genuine, so I placed an order for a sweater costing ₹448 (+ ₹50 delivery charges) from a website called "JUST KOTTON". The specific product I ordered can be found here: https://justkotton.in/products/winter-mens-striped-collection-sweater-stylish-round-neck-pullover-n-1?variant=49932322013478. I chose the Cash on Delivery (COD) payment option, thinking it was safer. On 13th January 2025, I received the package via Ekart. At first glance, the packaging didn’t seem suspicious. However, when I opened it, I was shocked to find a low-quality female dress/top instead of the sweater I had ordered. The item was completely unrelated and of very poor quality. I immediately tried contacting their return policy email and phone number provided on their website, but there was no response. It became clear that this was a scam designed to exploit unsuspecting buyers. Key Details to Note: Website Name: JUST KOTTON Platform Advertised On: Instagram Delivery Method: Ekart Scam Tactics: Sending wrong, low-quality products and making returns impossible. Scam Link: https://justkotton.in/products/winter-mens-striped-collection-sweater-stylish-round-neck-pullover-n-1?variant=49932322013478 Advice to Everyone: 1. Avoid shopping from unknown websites, especially those heavily advertised on social media. 2. Check for reviews and ratings before making a purchase. 3. Even with COD, inspect the package before accepting it if possible. 4. Report such incidents to consumer protection platforms and social media to alert others. I’ve learned my lesson the hard way, and I hope this post helps you stay safe from similar scams.5
