Have you noticed a rise in discrimination against people from UP, Bihar?
Lately, I’ve noticed a growing trend of bias and discrimination against people from UP, Bihar, and other northern states. While racism against Indians as a whole seems to be rising globally, the internal divisions within India are also becoming more apparent. One example is the increasing use of terms like *"cow belt"* to stereotype and demean people from these regions. Recently, even some politicians have used derogatory language against North Indians in parliament—only to apologize later. In the similar way, use of word like 'BIMARU' , and a new breed of hater on X (though i have stoped using) who will attribute all crime to UP and Bihar , shaming the word "Bhaiyya" in negative view, calling people vadakans from negative view, and many more Once I told my college mates that I am from UP, next question they asked do you have gun? Once I was asked from them why I dont behave like a typical UPite, what was their typical UPite behaviour, dont know. Second thing, I have notice Bihar people raise their voice against this racism but no resistance from UPites. Have you or someone you know experienced this? Do you think this is getting worse, or has it always been there but is now more visible? Would love to hear different perspectives.5
