Nainital Trip - Mid to Late Decemeber

Hi guys, Is it advisable to visit nainital for a short 3 day trip during the weekend from Delhi after 15 December? Saw a couple of posts that it’s snowing so will it be safe to travel? Also, what’s the best way to reach from kathgodam railway station (and expected fare) and best location to stay? TIA
