Water conservation | Rain-water harvesting (Kumaun Region) | Other means of saving water
As the title says, I want to do water conservation/ rain-water harvesting at my home, so looking for ideas in what ways my fellow people are doing it or solving water issues at their homes. I don't see any initiatives for this by any government and we have water crisis now and then. I wish they should prioritize, promote and give subsidies like how they are doing for homestays so villagers can solve water issues. I drew the representation of my property :) 1. The green is flat land 2. Brown is the mountain behind my home and doing some agriculture 3. I get 'strot' water through pipes but it is very limited and sometimes we don't get it. We fill that water in water tanks as shown below, but it is not sufficient. https://preview.redd.it/cpilyg5a658e1.jpg?width=669&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd3ba45f0e739811f4cb253c7c7e439a86104b1e So, my queries: 1. What is the best way to conserve rain water in mountaineous regions? Anyone of my friends have this system in their homes? Or how you are managing water in crisis times? 2. If we dig pits on the mountain, won't it make it weak in long run? And in case of earthquake that water will create pressure and can be an issue of a landslide. Though I have put reinforcements behind home where the mountain starts but not sure during calamity. 3. Any other ideas how we can store large amount of water which will be useful in times of water crisis? I want to do irrigation and use the water for my home needs. So, looking for expert's opinions on this. Thank you in advance :)2
