  • Temple collection season

Temple ulsavam collection season is here, and Sundays have become a bit unpleasant for me. I've already made some donations for our local temples, and waiting for a couple of the others I'd like to support. The problem is, how to avoid the ones I'm not interested in contributing to. I've taken to screening door calls using my security cam and waiting it out of I see a group of 10-12 people with temple brochures. Earlier I used to talk to them and say that I'd rather not, but then they'd get really pushy. One time I gave 100 rupees, and the boss guy who was standing a little back, told the receipt book guy to give it back to me as if it was an insult. I didn't personally know any of them; not that it should matter. If any religious collection people are on this forum, I'd request you to think about why you're even doing this. IMO it should be done with humility, not arrogance. Do any of you all have similar feelings of discomfort about this whole business? Or AITA?
