  • Does anyone else feel that they can no longer visit Padmanabha Swamy temple without burning a hole in your pocket?

Gone are the days when you could walk into a temple as big and beautiful as the Shree Padmanabha Swamy temple and feel the positivity of the place. This time around it was flooded with tourists from all over the world, making the entire surrounding very noisy, messy and chaotic. Top it up with a VIP darshan for Rs. 500/-. If you have the money you get to enter the sanctum, witness the grandeur of the idol, get a thali and payasam. If not, well you're expected to go around the sanctum, wait in long queues that barely move and witness the chaos unravel in front of you in scorching heat. The management staff is rude and handles the crowd unprofessionally. Same goes for all big wig places of religious beliefs. It's quite infuriating. Even a simple management of keeping valuables outside is in a mess. My family and I remember walking into this place twenty years ago and peacefully making a darshan. It's all about capitalism these days. And people are ready to bow infront of it.
