Police officer took my fingerprint?

Today(New year) me and my other two friends are going on bike at around 1:00 am and there are multiple police check posts are present for controlling public in the rush. As we are riding triple on bike I decided to walk until I cross the check post. While iam walking a police officer stopped me and tooknmy finger prints. Why does he took my finger prints what will happen with that.
