Where can I find good technical candidates to hire?

I have a bootstrapped startup with very limited budget. I am pre revenue and trying to wrap up my MVP. As most of you already know it is very challenging to do everything on your own. I hired a few people in the past and at it’s peak we were 5 people. But now it’s only me. We are a fully remote company and working on a challenging product. I had to let go of my first dev as he wasn’t producing any output after 1+ month. I also noticed he was barely putting in any hours despite multiple warnings.(We have productivity tools and metrics.) My part time UI/UX person wanted to quit, as in her day job she could just hang out as she wanted to and didn’t really have any pressure as pretty much no one cared. I tried to keep her multiple times as there was good output and relaxed her as much as possible but she still left. The Jr. UI/UX person that we hired for her also quit, which I gladly accepted as he wasn’t really creating good output anyways, not a big loss. This was a hire to keep the Sr. UI/UX designer’s workload manageable. Finally my last dev was not great but ok, I was trying my best to guide him and teach him. He didn’t know anything about writing scalable code, modularity etc. but I was trying to teach him. He had countless numbers of missed meetings, missing days etc. I tolerated and tried to help him adapt to the remote working environment. But in the end when I was absent for a week due to health problems, he decided to only show up for few hours for the entire week. That combined with low quality code, missed deadlines etc. I decided to let him go. I am working on it on my own, the code is a lot more maintainable and scalable now(I had to do a lot of refactoring from the pieces written by them). But there is just too much work and I don’t think we can keep up with the market trends just with me. I am -Talking to potential customers some of which are enterprise contacts, -Watching the market and new tools that are released which can potentially be our competitor -Thinking about user experience -Writing the frontend while I try to design the UI on the fly. -Working on the backend as I add new features -Creating presentations to be used during my calls -Trying to validate the idea and getting people to test the prototype -Now I need to work on another feature asap and work more on our ML model to incorporate the recent changes. I just can’t keep it up with all this on my own, I am working 7 days a week, day and night but it’s still not enough. I just opened another position(Sr. FE TS/React) and listed on a recruitment website. I am receiving hundreds of applications every day but almost all of them are trash. Applications with ajax, php, wp knowledge, people who think they claim to be experts in Figma, All Adobe Products and they claim to also know C++, C#, Javascript, HTML CSS etc.(Assembly is missing lol) with only 1 year work experience. I just finished reviewing about 70 of the initial resumes with just a few maybes. What am I doing wrong here? I just need a few good software engineers who actually know how to develop software and not write high school project code. I know these people exist, I can see great software is being written all over the world. There are lots of very successful fully remote companies. I am just not sure what I am doing wrong, would love to learn and move on. I am sorry that this post is ended up to be a little bit of venting but I guess I needed that. Thanks!
