Validate My Idea (I Will Not Promote)
I have an idea for concierge service tailored specifically for my apartment building. The Setup: I live in an apartment that was formerly a hotel, meaning all units are inside one building with a single main entrance and a lobby. Access is restricted, residents need key cards to enter and use the elevators. The building is in a downtown area but isn’t conveniently located near grocery stores or other essential services. The Opportunity: Because of the building’s layout and location, I believe I can create a monopoly on most in building services by offering a concierge-style solution exclusively for residents. Think Uber Eats, grocery delivery, and errands, but tailored specifically to this community. The Problems I’m Solving: 1. Delivery Challenges: People often struggle to find the building due to GPS inaccuracies, and many don’t even realize it’s an apartment complex. 2. Building Access Issues: Delivery drivers can be buzzed into the lobby, but they can’t access the elevators, meaning residents always have to come downstairs to collect food and packages. My Solution: I’d offer direct to door deliveries from someone the residents know and trust…me. No more waiting in the lobby, no more guiding confused drivers to the entrance. I’d also expand services to include: • Errands and airport runs • Personalized grocery shopping with real-time communication (text, phone, or video calls) • Exclusive promotions and discounts from local businesses How I’d Run It: I’d set up a website or app where residents can book services, view my availability, and communicate with me directly. Over time, I’d look to partner with local businesses to provide exclusive deals for residents. What I Need: I’d love feedback on this idea. What should I consider? Are there any challenges I’m overlooking? What other services could I offer? I’ve even thought about adding an in-house cleaning service as an extension of the business.2
