  • Lack of civic sense

I recently visited Saramsa Garden in Ranipool and noticed a large peacock (bird) statue in the middle of the garden, something I hadn't paid attention to during my earlier visits. There were some kids climbing and playing on the statue. I asked them to step down and play elsewhere since the statue was meant for viewing, not for climbing. At the base of the statue, I also noticed a group of teenage girls. Initially, I didn’t see what they were doing, but after the kids stepped down, they pointed it out to me. The girls were removing the decorative pebbles from the peacock’s (bird's) wings. Just then, the garden guard passed by and mentioned that the stones were actually quite expensive and that visitors often take them away. Looking closer, I realized most of the pebbles had already been removed, leaving empty cavities on the wings. I asked the girls to stop doing it. The condition of the garden overall was disheartening. There was litter scattered in many places, showing a lack of civic sense among visitors. It was sad to see such a beautiful place being neglected and misused. (Searched for the image in Google Maps and saw some adults also on top of other statues in the garden 😡) https://preview.redd.it/30nsxow4gs9e1.png?width=3364&format=png&auto=webp&s=c047e1fc55afa4195030b5becf7c71c6a503afd4 Image from Google Maps
