Buckle up if you use CDC or gov sites Tons of broken external links this week. I'm an analyst for a specific vertical within the medical field. They were all gov sites, many of which were the CDC. Gone. Not a political post, tho I certainly have my opinions. Just an FYI. I'm spending my whole morning swapping them all out. Also, for some odd reason, all HuffPost links came back as "broken" even though they're fine. 5 2 replies

Domain Migration After Losing a High-Ranking Domain – Best Practices? **Hey, SEO folks!** I have a question regarding domain migration. A client of mine lost his long-established domain due to a domain dispute case in court. He was generating a significant number of leads through organic rankings, but the sudden suspension is now negatively impacting his business. I advised him to purchase a new domain using his business name since reactivating the suspended domain might take a long time—if it’s even possible at all. He has already purchased the new domain, and I’m now in the process of migrating... 2 4 replies
ICANN Question I was just having a nosy on ICANN, trying to familiarise myself with something new in my relatively new SEO journey, and came across the following code. 'clientRenewProhibited' It mentions that this is typically reserved for those in legal issues etc, but how serious would this be? Does this mean the site is effectively a dead man walking, and will be deleted upon the lapsing of the domain? Will it be purchasable? Apologies if these are dumb questions and feel free to tell me if they are! Also, because... 1 1 replies
Had a site ranking well and then decided to put a video backsplash above the fold We have a site that ranked pretty well for our primary keyword (between position 2 and 3) but decided to get creative and have a video splash above the fold instead of the standard hero section with a call to action button etc. We've dropped in ranking to the top of page 2 (position 10 / 11) and I'm assuming it's either one of two things: load speed increased because of the video so people were bouncing faster or because there's no immediate CTA, they didn't even stick around... 1 3 replies

How is AI changing SEO? Will search engines make blogs and articles obsolete? Search engines now provide direct answers at the top of search results, so users don’t always need to read full articles anymore. Is AI making traditional SEO less relevant? Will blogs and long-form content survive in the future? 2 14 replies
Site header is hogging my keywords? I have a new Squarespace site I'm working on (and learning SEO as I go). I got my keywords for each page on my title, description and my single H1 tag, which all seem to work, more or less for a first attempt. The issue is that when I use site checkers (2 chrome extensions and like 4 different SEO checker sites) They all report really odd keywords that are either my header links (Home, portfolio, About, contact us) or "menu" which doesn't appear anywhere on my site at... 2 0 replies

GA4 Realtime reporting error? One of my four sites has, for the past couple of hours, been showing about an 80% reduction in "Realtime" traffic compared to a normal day. I checked my site and nothing has changed with regard to tag installation. Moreover, I don't seem to have lost ranking for any of my top 20 or so pages, so this is very strange indeed. Obviously, the true test will be tomorrow, when GA4 finally updates accurate traffic numbers for the whole day. For now, however, I'm feeling very panicked and unsure... 1 3 replies
Hit Hard by December 2024 Spam Update - Any Tips? Hey everyone, My site kdotovolal (dot) cz got hit hard by the December 2024 Spam Update, and I haven’t seen any signs of recovery since. Traffic dropped significantly, and despite making some changes, things haven’t improved. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: * Reviewed content to ensure it’s unique and without technical issues. * Improved internal linking and user experience. * Checked for any technical issues in Google Search Console. * Avoided low-quality backlinks. Yet, nothing helped. Have any of you managed to recover from this update? If so,... 2 3 replies
New website here! Need help to rank/get traffic Hello everyone, the website is italian for the italian market only!!! I've recently launched a football predictions website powered by an AI algorithm. For each match, an article is automatically generated using Gemini's API and other tools. Looking at the top search results for the keyword **"football predictions"**, I’ve noticed that many of the ranking sites are poorly made—so in theory, it shouldn’t be too hard to outrank them. My site also has a blog where I write articles and tutorials, targeting low-competition keywords. However, even for keywords that... 3 0 replies

Why did I get a sudden drop of impressions and clicks? I have been working on a new website. For Context I added this site to the search console and gained visibility already within a couple of days, this visibility completely dropped and I don't even appear on the first page anymore for my own "brand name". The domain existed before which I didn't know about. (Was a spanish site, mine is not but same niche) Most traffic I got was initially for a tool I developed basically a calculator. There is no sitemap, I wanted google to crawl and... 1 0 replies
Question on migrating sites I currently have a site that ranks pretty well in a particular niche. It runs on a WordPress directory theme. I'm moving to a new theme so am building a parallel site with a temp domain. When complete, I will switch over the domain. I will keep the same urls for the key pages. My question is, will this affect the SERP or will it be seamless in terms of site map? 5 1 replies
