Where to learn seo for absolute noobies

Hi all, I own a small business and have been scammed by a couple of "seo specialists". I'm looking to try again, but this time I'd like to be more knowledgeable of the field. What is the best place to learn seo? I checked out semrush which seems alright, but doesn't have much structure to it. Just a bunch of random vids. Thank you!
