Long list post: publishing in its entirety vs gradually

I'm working on writing a very long list style blog post. It will contain at least 41 items. It's taking me quit a long time to write all these, so I was wondering if it would be beneficial to simply publish the post with only 10 of the items, and then gradually keep updating the post as I write new items. Will doing this be better or worse for SEO on this blog post? Thanks!
