Is unrelated traffic damaging for SEO?

My main business is in B2B manufacturing. I have almost no domain authority and very few backlinks. Which is another story. Just for fun, I built a simple personal finance related calculator that has zero to do with my business. I had no where else to put it, so I  created a page for it on my non-related website and set it to not index. Then, I mentioned it on a personal budget sub but didn’t link to it. Within 1 day, over 50 people asked for a link to try it, and then got positive feedback. If I were to have posted the link publicly on that sub and many other places, it would get a ton of traffic of people interacting with the calculator. I think it adds enough value that people would add backlinks to it from their blogs and otherwise just mention it in the personal budget world. I know it would make way way more sense to house it on a personal budget related website, or just even it's own site. But I simply don't have the time. Spread to thin as it is. So, my question is if this would help or hurt my existing not related business? I don’t expect any of the users to actually become a customer. Just completely different target market. But if it could help my SEO at all, should I make it public and start linking to it in some of these subs. If I should, what should my strategy be? Or, Is there a better way to say monetize it separately instead? Something that wouldn't take much time for a not particularly tech person to manage in relatively quick order.
